Palm Desert’s Firehouse Museum
At the Historical Society of Palm Desert’s Firehouse Museum, you’ll experience a fascinating collection of historical photos, newspaper and magazine archives and historical artifacts, as well as interesting exhibits that tell the story of Palm Desert.
Spanning the time from the indigenous peoples, who lived in the mountains during the summer and traveled to campsites in the desert in the winter, to the early pioneers and farming in the desert, to the arrival of General George Patton’s training center during WWII, to the glamorous post war days at the Shadow Mountain Club where movie stars rubbed elbows with the local residents, to the Mid-Century Modern era and famous architects, to city incorporation in 1973 and right down to the present, the Historical Society of Palm Desert’s Firehouse Museum has it all. Come and visit!
