The Mystique of Shadow Mountain

A Modernism Week 2022 Walking Tour

Palm Springs is known for its cache of historically rich Midcentury architecture. Less known, and equally stellar, are the architecturally significant homes throughout south Palm Desert.

This tour covers the historical Shadow Mountain area, replete with homes designed by significant architects and inhabited by Hollywood celebrities, politicians, and renowned business people. Envisioned by noted entrepreneur, Cliff Henderson, and his business partners in 1946, these visionaries truly did create what became a Midcentury oasis in Palm Desert.

Included here are in-depth articles for each of the houses on the tour. You can also download a single PDF containing all of the articles (190 megabytes).
